Here we go, another "is this paint or carbon cracking" thread..

    Bike in question; 2016 S-works Stumpy 29er.

Built in GA in October 2016 as far as I can tell, was done up from a shop there in Gainesville. A colleague of mine "impulse" bought it, had his wife ride it a few times then it came here to MN and sat since about 2 weeks ago when I acquired it.

Got it all cleaned up and noticed some very tiny cracks near the FSR bushings in 3 different locations, presumably from when they were pressed in, also some clear coat cracking near the BB I'd imagine was caused in the same manner (I attempted to fix with nail polish, it worked ok enough).

Really I'm just looking for you all to tell me that these are superficial and the bike is still every bit of awesome that it was new. Riding it so far has yielded no issues, other than creaky bottom bracket, which I'll probably never get figured out.

How about this one? Fresh today after a leisurely ride at the local trail, no impacts, no strikes. Looks to be the thinnest carbon on the bike. Kind of nervous about riding this anymore but I guess if she breaks she breaks? Photo is upside down, so it's actually on the top of the lower swing arm.

Or maybe it's just the fancy clear coat Specialized used?

I figured as much. I guess it can't be pretty forever! They really should stop using this brittle gel coat clear though. Giving people heart attacks all over the place!

I'll have to dig in my sticker stash and cover this up with something relevant.

    don't cover any cracks

if flex makes little paint defects, then that area is flexing,
so you want to leave it visible to see if there is really more going to develop (prob. not)

But cracks are so ugly on white frames .

I'll keep an eye on it, and update with any developments.
