So I'm new to nicer bikes. I've done the Downieville downhill about 10 times on my college bike el cheapo rigid frame and its time to move on.
Interestingly my family owns a pretty big piece of land on a steep mountain in the wine country with effectively rough single track cut everywhere by the cows. I usually run the trails but would like to start riding them for training instead to save my knees.
I need something that will climb steep rough terrain well to keep me in shape but also smooth out the really rough STEEP downhills. I would like to use it for a Downieville run once a year but figure anything will be better than what I got.
There are sooo many used high end bikes on CL around here and bike technology really seems to have changed. What should I be looking for?
