Hardtail recommendations for 120mm fork

Hi all. Been thinking about building a new bike from parts around the shop and stripping some from current bike. I need some suggestions on a frame that will not be used to race on and needs not to be an aggressive stance. I'll be putting a 120mm 1 1/8 fork on it. Lokking to spend up to $750 so aluminum or chromo steel is good.

Riding type: technical single track, lots of climbing

any frame suggestions?

Definitely. Been riding since the '90's and decided to go back to steel hardtail after going full-suspension and titanium. My wife and I are both riding Cotic Souls right now. 14.5" and 16" frames. 4.1lbs and 4.3lbs frames. Both set-up with 120mm forks, mine is SS, my wife's is 1X10. Both have dropper seatposts. Most fun and versatile bikes I have ridden so far. I also have a Evil Sovereign which is a blast to ride, but it is heavier (slacker head angle too) but does not climb as well. Cotic Souls are made of steel, Reynolds 853.

If you're into carbon, Amazon is listing a carbon hard tail (Gaea) for $635. There are several sizes and the one I saw has tapered head tube but I think a 1 1/8 is available and for lots of climbing carbon may be the ticket.

On One 456 for the price point is awesome. Jamis Dragon is also awesome but I thinks its setup for 100mm.

I've got a Santa Cruz Chameleon with a 120mm fork on it. I think the 2012 version is still being sold on clearance from Santa Cruz's site for about $350.

I agree. If you're thinking 29r, I'd go with one of them.
