Get current bike fitted or new bike?

My husband bought a 19" Giant Rainier a few years back. It fit him great when he bought it, but he must have lost flexibility because now it's uncomfortable. Is it better to get the bike fitted or should he just buy a new one? If fitted, is there a good bike dealer/shop that can do this in the Vancouver area (Canada)? Bike Doctor, Jubilee Cycles and Cap's all seem good.

The bike will be used mostly for commuting, so paved roads (with steep hills) and gravel trails. The budget for a new bike would be around $7-900, likely a hardtail.

What is the nature of his discomfort?

    How old is he?

Has he had any physical problems since he bought the bike?
