I currently have a 2007 Rocky Mountain Slayer 30 (all-mtn) and am interested in getting a lighter XC/trail bike. Main reason is that I've recently moved to Kamloops, BC and the trails here require a lot more climbing than I'm used to and I just feel that the Slayer isn't up to the task (plus it gives me an excuse to get a new bike!
I'll still probably end up keeping the Slayer for the technical downhill stuff (which it's great at), but I'd like to get another bike for lighter trails, better climbing and even as an occasional pavement commuter bike. Budget is around $3k or so. I've been looking at the following:
1) Rocky Mtn Element 930 and 970
2) Trek Superfly 100 AL
3) Kona Hei Hei
4) Specialized Epic Comp 29
5) Specialized Stumpjumper FSR
6) Specialized Camber
7) Giant Anthem x 29er 1
8) Cannondale Scalpel 29er 4
I don't plan on ever racing so I don't need a hardcore bike. I'm wondering if the Stumpjumper overlaps with my Slayer somewhat.....I look fwd to all ur opinions. Thanks!
