F29 1 Creaking Driving me MAD

    F29 1 - F-Series 29er - Hardtail 29er - Mountain - Bikes - 2013

Hey all, recently I purchased this bike new from a LBS, I've got about 50 miles on it and in the last 25 or so, a creaking (I assume from the neck) has been getting progressively worse.

I took it back to my LBS and they said they took the neck apart, wrapped it with teflon tape and greased the 'heck' out of it. They said the creak is gone, or so faint I won't notice it.

It's now a tiny bit quieter, however, it's still maddeningly loud. This is my first bike, and from what I understand it's decently mid range/high end bike. Should I have to live with this creaking bike (which, for whatever reason makes me much less excited to get it on the trails, not sure why, I guess it feels like a cheap hunk of junk?)

    What should I do?

First post, sorry it's a negative one.

Are you sure the creak is not your seat post, pedals, or crank/bottom bracket? Those creaks can sound like they are coming from anywhere.

You should not have to live with a creak on a new bike.

If the creak happens when pushing the bike backwards and forwards with the wheel on a wall, it's most likely the steerer on the fork creaking , it's usually warranty where fix will replace the steerer.

The key with any of these problems is reproducing it at will when off the bike

High end or low end, creaks are a fact of life with mountain bikes. The hardest part is locating the creak, if you can figure that out, then cleaning the part or bolt and greasing it will solve the problem. At least its a hardtail, finding a creak on a FS bike can be really hard.
