Epic Comp or Giant NRS Composite 2 ?

Cannot decide decide between those bikes. Epic Comp Large 2005 or Giant NRS Composite 2 Medium.

Same sticker price on both in local bike shops. Giant comes without pedals.

New bike will be used for racing a dozen short track courses (around 1h each) and 5-6 one or two days raids every year.

I'm 6', 170 lbs, very good climber, average bike handler and average downhiller. Like to stay seated for pedaling more than other people. I have a Spec FSR 2002 Large(base one without lockout on Duke fork or Fox shox) now.

Will change rear derailleur of the Giant for sure If I pick the NRS.

All comments are welcome ! Need info of the bike weight too.

NRS Comp is the way to go. The 2 should be in the 27 pound range with pedals depending on size. It is a very fast bike but isn't very plush on the small stuff

I've had both of these bikes.

I preferred the Epic. I found the NRS bobbed no matter how I set it up. On the other hand, the Epic, with the brain technology feels like a hardtail when climbing....in, or out of the saddle. It just feels more efficient. I've got two bikes now. For all-out speed, I love the Epic. For massive hucking and ground absorbing travel I love the Giant VT-1. The NRS fell in a hole between the two...not doing either very well.
