    Cracked Tyres

Just a quick question, do cracked tyres need replacing? My Cannondale Chase has been in storage for well over a year with a puncture. I've got it out today, and I've noticed the tyres are cracked around the side of the tyre, and also in between the grooves where the nobly bits are. It hasn't gone through the thread.

Are they still ok to use? They tyre itself isn't worn or anything.

Without seeing the tires I cannot give a solid opinion. Depends on how bad the cracks are. Cracks are a sign that the rubber is getting brittle. Ask yourself this: If a tire were to fail what would I face? A long walk? A crash at speed?

Why take the chance? The tires might be OK, but for one's peace of mind replace them.
