Hola,
I am currently living in Vietnam, and am about to buy my first bike. Not too much selection over here, but I could import from the US. I will be doing somewhat aggressive XC, lots of mud, water, sand etc. but no decent elevation to speak of. My LBS has a 2009 Giant XTC Team frame, full 2009 XT Components w/ discs, WH-M505 Shimano hubs/wheels, RS Tour 318, FSA carbon post, FSA bar and stem, Ergon GC2 grips, Selle Italia Gel seat, GT platforms for $1,680.
The only piece I am really not excited about is the wheelset. I can get Mavic Crossrides swapped at no charge, but I will probably buy a second set of wheels next year anyway to have slicks for on-road use.
2 Questions, is this a reasonable price for that build? Is there anything I am missing or should reconsider?
He had a Manitou Mars fork on it, which appears to be quite old, but he agreed to swap to the 2009 Rock Shox Tour 318, and I upgraded from SLX to full XT for $180.
