    Canfield Brothers frames

I am new to all this so bear with me. his is NOT a flame against Canfield Bros.

Never having heard of them I checked out their webpage. I see a couple of frames in the $400-600 price range. After a build I suppose a couple of grand for a bike.

Please educate me: what makes their high end frames worth over $2,500?

That would be a bike costing I suppose over 4K when done, correct.

Again not bashing just trying to learn. I have seen Spec. S Work bikes costing close to 10K.

At what point is it bragging rights or as we go up in price are the more expensive bikes that much better part wise and quality control wise?

I think you may be comparing dirt jumpers and 29" hardtails to down hill race bikes.
Chasing bears through the woods drunk with a dull hatchet is strongly not advised

I think what he is asking is at what point are there "diminishing returns' from a cost perspective. Is a 7K bike really all that better than say a 3K bike? Is XO really worth the difference in price from X7 etc.

Clearly there is a difference between carbon and Al. Higher priced bike with same frame material means "better" components.

Question is this: "Will a rider know the difference in a blindfold test?"

Not that I'm advocating riding blindfolded but I would think a more accomplished rider will be able to feel the difference between a better quality group on an identical frame.

Likewise he/she would also feel the difference in lighter components esp. eheelset from an acceleration point of view.

Now the new rider maybe not so.

    Is it worth it?

Well, the Miata or Civic both get you where you want to go so is te 911 or Ferrari worth it? I guess it depends in part on how deep your pockets are.

    Different strokes etc.
