    Cane Creek 110 headset?

Thinking of getting a 110 headset. Anyone have any input?

Mine has been absolutely problem free since I got it about 2 years ago.

My top pick, although now that King uses a compression ring in their headset it is about even (and King is "local" for me).

CC 110 = top of the heap in headsets. 110 year warranty says a lot. Not that anyone will outlive a headset..

i have one on my jabberwocky. It simply works without issue thus I tend never to think about it.

If you decide on one, also check out the installation adapters Cane Creek advises you to use to install the 110 components (crown race, and headset cups).

The seals do the job. Removed my fork to change the dust wipers after a particularly messy season, and the headset was clean as a whistle inside. Can't say the same for some other headsets I've owned. I'm sure you can get the same performance for less from an S-3, S-8, or 100, but the 110 is definitely bling.

I've been bling'n it up with Chris Kings for the past 16 years or so with just about every color of the rainbow now that I think about it.

Going to give the Cane Creek 110 a try on my new ride. Ordered one last week and should be here by next week. Reason for the switch? Their tapered is about 40 bucks cheaper than the King version.
Heard nothing but rave reviews for the 110 also.

Called up Cane Creek. They gave me an extra 5 years as soon as I use up the 110 years. Mine is now Cane Creek 115.

^^^ good to know - I was a tad worried after the rapture didn't happen - I smoke formaldehyde daily so I expect to outlive this headset - I wonder what it takes to get a 20yr extension?

Have you really read the Headset Warranty of the 110?
It's never no-questions-asked warranty like their claim.

You could get them(2010 ver.) for 40 from CRC.
If they are so good like Chris King, the store won't sell them so cheap.
There's nowhere you can get non-GlipLock CK for that cheap.

I've asked CaneCreek if they swap the headset broken from DH or trials riding and no reply.
    Which means they won't.

I was very close to buying a 110 and found a Chris King Sotto Voce on sale for $85 so I went with that instead. I have had mostly positive experiences with CK support folks though at times e-mail has ended up in never never land and I've had to pick up the phone and call.

Well it's tough to answer especially crash damage. The bumper-to-bumper warranty on a BMW does not extend to crash damage either

Would Chris King replace a headset if it was broken from DH or trials riding? I have never owned a CK headset and do not know their warranty coverage.

I couldn't find anything about the details of the CK warranty.
Both are good looking but CK headset is time tested and lots of trials riders including pros use their hubs and headsets with even O-ring bearing cap.

The point is, CC's no-question-asked warranty is actually lot-of-question-asked.
The original owner with receipt, normal riding with care, any other condition judged...
Aluminum base plate for 110 years?
If CC takes good 110-year care of the folks purchasing it for 40 quid, it's killer deal or CC killer.

If you don't need pretty color of CK or 110, buy
CC 40 and they lasts long for normal riding.

If you break the headset often, maybe buy steel one and try to ride like Nico.

    Cane Creek 110 FTMFW.

I have one on my hardtail and it's been absolutely flawless.

I've run Chris King's before. No complaints there, other than they seemed to get the inevitable CK creek of doom.

I love my CC. No noise, smooth as glass, and stays clean. Even with the "moon dust" down here in Las Vegas, that infiltrates everything... this headset is problem free and clean!

    I highly recommend it.

I've been running the 110 on my Titus FTM for the past year with no problems to speak of. I run Chris Kings on my other bikes with no issues either.

110 has been problem free on one of my HTs for 2 years. The S-8 is also great if you want to save a few bucks for another upgrade.

I have tapered 110 on my Eriksen...have CK's on three of my other bikes, so far the 110 is a nice piece of kit. I like how they offer a choice between the tall and short top assemblies, lots of configuration flexibility.

And Chris King wont warranty all the damaged fork steerer tubes caused by their prior inferior o-ring design that didn't work on longer A-C forks...

If you mention 'Trials' to CK, they'll hang up on you (not literally). Also, the reason that you can find a CC110 cheaper is because CC is not as hard on their dealers for pricing as CK. CK has a very strict pricing policy, and if you find someone selling one of their headsets for less... they won't be for long.

They're both amazing pieces, and I believe that they're on par with each other. I just wish the 110 came in MORE colors (where's the orange!?)
