Looking to build up an azonic propulsion. any thoughts, comments, opinions? this'll be my new xc bike. I want to get a marathon SL up front, avid mechanicals, the rest is whatever it'll be..for now...

seems a little too little in the back with 3.6" of travel....

Just curious...

Any reason you would get a Propulsion instead of a closeout Turner Burner from Supergo or MtnHigh? I mean maybe you have a lead on a used one for a good price or something, that I can understand. I've looked around a little and I thought the new prices were pretty comparable otherwise. The bikes seem pretty similar, FSR link, uninterrupted seattube, etc, but one is taiwanese, and the other is USA Turner.

Just on paper, it looks like the Propulsion and Sabre are knockoffs of the Turner Burner and 5 spot. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I bought the Burner and built it up with the Marathon SL. I'm going crazy waiting for all this New England snow to melt so I can try it! Just bouncing around in the driveway the 3.6 feels pretty good. It feels like more than 3.6, but no real world trail experience yet. My previous XC/Trail/All mountain bike was a 6" travel Santa Cruz Bullit, and I have to admit it was more than I needed for most of my riding, so it usually sat in the garage while I rode the singlespeed.

Maybe poke around on the Turner board for reviews of the Burner to compare.

i know about the turner's. i've lusted after one when i got back into bikes last year, esp. with the supergo price. i went to see them in person in their ventura store and they are sweet indeed.

i would say that the propulsion and the saber are more copies of and simplified versions of earlier specialized FSR's, and turners are derived from that too. they're both fsr's, right? but i have to say, azonic's rear triangle is pretty pornolicious.....

ANYWAY, i found the propulsion nearby for about $300 for frame with romic shock, seatpost, front derailleur. CHEAAAAP! i was originally going to get a 4"+ frame, but i figure what the hell. i have other bikes....

also in cali, since last summer, the supergo burners have descended upon all the land; rarely do i ride and not see at least 3 burners, 5 blurs, and 10 enduros. surely their popularity says something about the reliability and value, but i always like a different ride, almost to a fault. know what i mean?

how's that marathon SL though? might get the S version, as it has on the fly travel adjust.

Wow

For that money I'd jump on it too.

I know what you mean about not wanting to have what everyone else is riding. I can understand that. I hope Turners continue to remain rare here on the east coast. Never seen one in person.

Marathon SL is OK so far. Again no real trail experience yet. My one concern is the weird little doohickey you need to thread onto your shock pump to increase the air pressure. I'll need to drill a tiny hole and wear it around my neck or something so I don't lose it. But I wanted the ability to increase spring rate on the fly without buying new springs.

Good luck with the Propulsion.

you can't leave the doohickey thing just threaded onto the valve while you ride?

Not really

You have to take off the topcaps, then thread this doohickey into a kinda inverted valve stem looking thing. Then the shock pump threads onto that. Kind of a PITA. I'm hoping I'll be able to just get the settings the way I want them then leave it alone.
