1999 Kona Caldera a good buy?

I found a '99 Kona Caldera that is in really good condition. The guy is asking $450 for it. Is this a good buy?

If good condition means really good, like barely ridden, then it might be a decent buy. Not worth it if the frame has a lot of mileage on it, even if it's been well kept up. Mountain bikes are supposed to decrease in value by half every year if they're ridden regularly. I have a 2002 Caldera and I doubt I could sell it for more than 500 or 600.

New '04 is $999 with disc brakes and warranty and a year's service.
