09' Spec Rockhopper or 00' GF Sugar 2

So I'm looking at getting a good entry-level bike and going from there... Two options right now are an '09 Specialized Rockhopper Comp or a '00 Gary Fisher Sugar. I know the GF is obviously the better bike, but would it be a bad buy b/c of the age? I know I can always build on both if anything is wrong w/ components, but what about the turn around on the Fisher if I decide to sell in the future. I'm looking at getting into XC riding. Let me know you're thoughts. Thanks.

I would never consider a bike 10 years old, just my own opinion.

Even if it was running XTR, I wouldn't touch a 10 year old bike either.

I rode MTB 10 years ago and started BMX for funds reasons. A LOT HAS CHANGED. Get the Rockhopper.

    Hog wash.....

I say just make sure the condition of the bike is good and regular maintenance was performed... Should be all good...

I myself just bought an 04 GF sugar race, its just amazing. but I to would stay away from an 00 because the swing arm connection is weak and irreplaceable. the 00 model does not have the newer b-link system.
my advise: find an 04 sugar race somewhere

The Rockhopper is a good starter bike. That is what I rode for a year to start with. No problems with it.
