1. The most important thing about buying a new bike is to make sure it fits. The only way you'll know if the bike is right for you is to size up the bike and make sure that the bike's geometry matches your body's geometry. Ask questions and do some research.

2. If possible, try to find a shop that will let you demo the bike on real dirt. Five minutes in a parking lot won't cut it. You wouldn't buy a car without a real world test drive, and a bike should be no different.
3. Don't belive the hype. Just because your favorite rider or best friend rides a certain bike, that doesn't mean that's the best one for you. Have an open mind and be realistic about your needs and ability.

Worthy trade? Macbook pro for 2006 Trek Fuel 70??? Need help ASAP

Ok so here is the deal. I am new to Mountain bikes and bikes in general. I'm trying to figure out if this trade makes sense. I have a 2008 Macbook pro that I am trying to sell that has an estimated value of 500.00 but I'm having trouble getting close to that. I have had plenty of offers of 300 but not much higher. I do have someone that's willing to sell me a 2006 trek fuel 70 full suspension mountain bike but I'm not sure if its a good trade and if I decided to sell it if I would be able to get more then the 300.00 Please let me know what you guys think

As a Mac guy, $300 seems about right for a Macbook of that age, considering the technology that is introduced every year by Mac. If the bike is your size and in pretty good condition, then I'd do the trade. I've seen a 2006 Fuel 70 frame sell for around $200.00 so getting a complete bike for say...$300, isn't that bad of a deal. Also take into consideration that the rear shock may need servicing as well as the front. The price of owning a full suspension bike.
