1. The most important thing about buying a new bike is to make sure it fits. The only way you'll know if the bike is right for you is to size up the bike and make sure that the bike's geometry matches your body's geometry. Ask questions and do some research.

2. If possible, try to find a shop that will let you demo the bike on real dirt. Five minutes in a parking lot won't cut it. You wouldn't buy a car without a real world test drive, and a bike should be no different.
3. Don't belive the hype. Just because your favorite rider or best friend rides a certain bike, that doesn't mean that's the best one for you. Have an open mind and be realistic about your needs and ability.

    What part is this?

Hi, I just finished to convert my 3 speed crank into single speed using raceface narrow wide chainring.
But in the process, when I pull off the crank using the crank puller, there is a part that fall off and I do not know what part is it and where its come from. Its somekind of a safety ring.

Anyone know what part is it? Where is it should be installed?

My crank is shimano fc-m571, hollowtech, octalink.

Anyway, I did not install this part but my bike still working normal.
    Thank you

I believe that is from your crank puller not the crank, my puller has a circlip that looks exactly like that.

It is an external snap ring, meant to go on a shaft. Since you say your crank is Octalink that means you have a cartridge bearing bottom bracket.
I would assume it belongs on the BB spindle to retain the cartridge bearing or spacers on the spindle.

Or that :^) - it does look suspiciously clean and unused to be on a BB.
