1. The most important thing about buying a new bike is to make sure it fits. The only way you'll know if the bike is right for you is to size up the bike and make sure that the bike's geometry matches your body's geometry. Ask questions and do some research.

2. If possible, try to find a shop that will let you demo the bike on real dirt. Five minutes in a parking lot won't cut it. You wouldn't buy a car without a real world test drive, and a bike should be no different.
3. Don't belive the hype. Just because your favorite rider or best friend rides a certain bike, that doesn't mean that's the best one for you. Have an open mind and be realistic about your needs and ability.

    What lube for swingarm pivots?

What should you use to lube rear swingarm pivot points/bushings?

Of course it depends on what type you have, but most require no lube.

Mine are 2.5 years old with 11000 km, no significant wear yet, I do however use a bit of grease to try to seal the pivot joints so mud can't get in. Then every once in a while clean off and out the old grease and put some more on.

I would try a teflon chain lube. I was on the site of a pivot bearing supplier a while back and they say that lube is not rquired but oil or water is okay, as long as it is clean.

But... I you really sure it is the pivot that is squiaking, I maintain six bikes and I have yet to have a pivot squeak (jamis and rockies)
