1. The most important thing about buying a new bike is to make sure it fits. The only way you'll know if the bike is right for you is to size up the bike and make sure that the bike's geometry matches your body's geometry. Ask questions and do some research.

2. If possible, try to find a shop that will let you demo the bike on real dirt. Five minutes in a parking lot won't cut it. You wouldn't buy a car without a real world test drive, and a bike should be no different.
3. Don't belive the hype. Just because your favorite rider or best friend rides a certain bike, that doesn't mean that's the best one for you. Have an open mind and be realistic about your needs and ability.

    What bike should i get?

Hi, i am relatively new to mountain biking and i want to get into mountain biking more. so i was wondering which bike is better, Trek Cobia 2013 or BMC Sportelite se01 deore/slx 2012. i would like to use it as a cross country sort of bike and trail riding, dont know if that comes under cross country. :/

    thanks for your help!

have you ridden either bike? probably better to see if you feel comfortable on them, fit of a bike is important.

The Cobia is a 29 and has good geo and components. Should be discounted because it is discontinued.

If it was me I would buy used as for the same money you would get a better bike with better quality components. I did and I got a great bike for a bargin.
