    Upgrading Brakes

    Hi,

I have recently purchased a new mountain bike

Bianchi Kuma 27.3 2014 Mountain Bike | Evans Cycles

It comes with mechanical disc brakes and whilst there is nothing wrong with them, I would like to upgrade them to hydraulic. The issue I have is that the brakes and shifters are integrated and there doesn't seem to be many 8 speed shifters around. Where would you recommend as a budget upgrade to go?

    Cheers.

There isn't much you can do besides getting new shifters and brakes. You can find a pair of Shimano 8 speed shifters on Ebay (ships from Taiwan) for $30.00 and a set of hydraulic Shimano Deore brakes for around $100-$120. More if you get new rotors as well.

M615 Deores are 90 from Ribble. They have the same pads as XTs and SLX.
Shimano Deore M615 Brake Lvrs + Post Mount Calipers (set), Shimano, Shimano BRAKES MTB
