1. The most important thing about buying a new bike is to make sure it fits. The only way you'll know if the bike is right for you is to size up the bike and make sure that the bike's geometry matches your body's geometry. Ask questions and do some research.

2. If possible, try to find a shop that will let you demo the bike on real dirt. Five minutes in a parking lot won't cut it. You wouldn't buy a car without a real world test drive, and a bike should be no different.
3. Don't belive the hype. Just because your favorite rider or best friend rides a certain bike, that doesn't mean that's the best one for you. Have an open mind and be realistic about your needs and ability.

Trek Fuel EX-7(2012) vs Specialized FSRXC expert(2010)

I'm quite a beginner... ride some with hardtail bikes singles, nothing serious... and looking for an upgrade.
I'm having an hard time to chose between the two...
On the paper the specialized has the better components... but.. this trek are delicious ...

both are manufacturer specs, besides the FSRXC rear shock has changed to fox triad.

    full spec:

    Trek Fuel EX-7 2012

    Specialized FSRXC expert 2010

the catch is that they're both for about the same price ...

Another thought is the Marine Mount Vision (ranging 2007-2010)
most of what i've fount was give or take Full XT / XT-XTR combinations / magura louise brakes, mavic wheels)
and the price is about 3/4 or the same as the above...

Those are all great trail bikes. I would prefer the Marin because of how well the suspension system performs. It also looks unique. The better spec is nice to have, but I wouldnt say that 2007 XT is better than 2012 SLX.

There are a lot of variables to take into account.

yes, that why i was so troubled, ofcourse.. material fatigue and series improvements over the time is also a room for thoughts.

    wish me luck.
