Hi all,
I need to replace the crankset on my 99 Hardrock Comp FS. I am getting back into biking and the teeth on the existing are cracking and are pretty rounded off. I used and abused it when i was riding (6'2" 230lbs) back in the day. So time for a new one.
I would like to replace this on my own but am a little unsure on what to get. It's been a while and there is a lot more on the market for choices. I just want a Deore or LX quality crankset for pretty cheap. Nothing fancy. Something I can use for a while and is of good quality.
I am not sure what size my BB is. I see cranks requiring a121mm, 122mm etc BB. Beats me. Is one of those an oddball size? Additionally I am pretty sure I have a square spindle. I have to go out and check tomorrow morning. It's an 8 speed if it means anything.
Any help on where to go or what to look for would be appreciated. I am looking forward to working on my bike and fixing things myself. Should be fun. I will probably replace the cassette as well because the teeth are pretty bad as well. I already got a new set from a friend. I should probably replace the chain while I am at it right?
Thanks in advance!
