I ve ordered a pair of Avid SD7s and it seems they are both front V brake calibers. Does it matter? Also can I use "full housing" cable for the rear brake. Thanks.
The Brakes are the same except the brake pads will be reversed. The pads should have an arrow to tell you which direction go towards the front of the bike. Also normally the longer end of the pad points towards the rear.

you can't just turn the pads. There is a top and bottom to them as well as a direction that they must face. Just shift the pads to oposite calipers. Best thing to do is mount them, and then shift them. The SD7 calipers should have come with either directional cartridge type pads (metal holder that the pads slide into), these will be marked with an arrow that should point forward. or at least directional pads (one side of the post has more pad sticking out than the other) depending on the year the brakes were made. The short side of the pad MUST point toward the front of the bike. So just switch them so that you get that orientation and you're good to go.
