1. The most important thing about buying a new bike is to make sure it fits. The only way you'll know if the bike is right for you is to size up the bike and make sure that the bike's geometry matches your body's geometry. Ask questions and do some research.

2. If possible, try to find a shop that will let you demo the bike on real dirt. Five minutes in a parking lot won't cut it. You wouldn't buy a car without a real world test drive, and a bike should be no different.
3. Don't belive the hype. Just because your favorite rider or best friend rides a certain bike, that doesn't mean that's the best one for you. Have an open mind and be realistic about your needs and ability.

    noob hello and question

first of all i'd like to say hi all

bought a bike from flea bay a few months back , its a pile of junk but i caught the bug ..... so been buying bits and bobs to build a better bike up ..... in my noob ignorance i bought an o7 stinky frame which i painted , new bearings etc etc ..... also bought a set of fox 36 fit rlc forks ........ tapered

i didnt realise ..... obviously the forks wont fit the bike so my questions are ......

    1. can i fix the situation ? yes or no and how
    if no ....
    2. do i sell the forks and buy anouther set
    3. do i sell the frame and buy anouther

please take into account i can only buy a replacement for either with the funds i get by selling .... i might be able to raise an extra 40 - 50 quid

    all opinions gratefully recieved

    1. the stanchions are press fit so short of getting a new crown/steerer/stanchions set no
    2. yes
    3. after all the work it'd be silly to scrap the frame for a fork
    4. you have a fork. A "set of forks" would be 2 forks.
