Just ordered myself an entry level bike and super excited! Fuji Nevada 1.9. glad to be here and look forward to reading, learning and sharing. I live in Hot Springs Village AR. Lots of great places to ride. ::Admins, if I missed the intro forum sorry, been waiting 28 hrs to post and about to run out to no service area, in a hurry.::

So after way too long waiting my new bike looks like it should be here 13 Dec. Excited to get it together and try it out. Have my helmet ready, think I'll get some gloves next along with a few other items.. frame mounted pump, couple tubes, water source. Any other beginner just have items while riding?

    helmet
    gloves
eye protection (any glasses you like to keep crap out of your eyeballs)
water-carrying (hydro backpack, water bottles, bumpack, etc)
good athletic clothes. cycling gear works best, but running gear is fine. avoid cotton.
cycling shorts of some sort. most anything else will destroy your butt.
    spare tube
    multi tool

don't get crazy with strapping every concievable gadget to your bike. download a mapping app to your smart phone and map where you ride so you can watch your progression.

C8N and Mack, thanks for the wise advice. Got the bike together this evening and rode a little around the in laws yard. I like it! My first mountain bike and looking forward to a challenge. I'll start working on those items before I take a ride. Also need to work on some stamina.

I have the Strava app, does that work well in places without cell service? This area has major dead spots. Thanks all!

A Garmin will work better. It will record your ride of GPS and you can upload it to strava after the ride.

Mack nailed it pretty well with things you will want to get.
If the wheels are tubeless ready. I would invest in converting to Tubeless.
I would invest in a proper bike fitment also. Have them measure your butt for a good seat size. Having the wrong seat can hurt a good amount on long rides.

from all that. Just go out and ride and have fun. You will find things to work on after riding it for a while
    Too Many .
