What I carry in my hydration pack:

    Mini pump
    Patch kit & tire levers
Spare tube(make sure you have the right size ie 26, 29, etc.)
    Multi-tool w/chain tool
    Zip ties
Small first aid kit (has come in handy!)
One of those windbreakers that fold up in a bag
Master link for Sram/KMC chains (make sure you know how to use this beforehand!)
at least one Cliff bar or similar
    some paper towels/napkins
(sometimes) a small pair of pruners for quick trail maintenance

I should add to that some sort of leatherman type multitool with a knife and an extra derailleur hanger.

And for longer rides an extra pair of gloves come in handy if the first pair gets too sweaty.

Tire levers, spare tubes, patch kit, small first aid kit, chain tool if not on your multi tool, spare links are the few things right off the top of my head. I always kept a spare $20 and a few smaller bills in there, just in case.
The pedals turn, not just the left one, but the right one too.

You can use either tube in either wheel ,not the best fix but they will work. Yes the pesta will work. There's a video somewhere showing how to stuff a 29" tube inside of itself to fit a 26' wheel.

Only carry a 26 tube. The 26 will fit on any rim size and will be ever so slightly lighter and you can find them cheaper. I usually don't carry a pack but the only difference when I do ride one is I pack a sandwich, camera, first aid, and letherman. Normally I fit everything on my bike and in the seat pack. bandages, multi-tool, Cash(use as a boot or food), Credit card(coffee), 26er tube, levers, self adhesive patches, 3-4 Co2, Co2 reg, and cell phone. It sounds like a lot but it packs small.
