Figured I should start here, before I just start barging in and hijacking threads, annoying people with long, convoluted responses, and just being a general all-around smart aleck.
I'm just getting started in Mountain Biking. A bit of history on myself, I'm 40 years old, and probably haven't ridden seriously in probably 20 years - back before mountain bikes were around (That I remember). Health issues have prevented me from riding, but that condition is no longer an issue.
For my 40th birthday, my wife and I bought mountain bikes. Something I've always wanted to do, and something she's enjoyed in the past.
We got Giants, both of us. I got a 2009 Giant Rincon, and she got the 2009 Giant Boulder SE Women's. Had trouble getting them, because the local shop had to order one for my wife (She needed an XS model because she's only 5' tall). Originally, we were getting 2008 models, but the distributor was switching over to 2009 models.
I'll post photos if anyone's interested.
At any rate, since my birthday in July, I've just been doing some daily, easy street-riding - about 5-7 miles a day trying to get used to it. I love it. Still not 100% confident yet, but getting there.
I live in Garden Grove, CA - about 10 minutes from Huntington Beach (Surf City USA for those of you who haven't heard of it as Huntington Beach). We're going to start trail riding, and I was just wondering if anyone has any good, easy trails to get started on around here? (Have Bike Rack, will travel)
Thanks!
