Hey guys, I'm looking for your input regarding comfortable saddles. Basically I started riding in Oct 2006 I noticed on longer rides the "boys" start to get numb. I've played with seat height and angle but still I experience numbness.
My next move is to purchase a new saddle.
So what is the most comfortble and forgiving saddle?
someone make a seperate categorie for this question and make it sitcky
It depends on your anatomy, everyone is diff. Specialized dealers have a Buttometer to measure your sit bones, once you know the correct width you can narrow down your choices.
my favorites are WTB pureV for comfort, WTB Devo for weight , then comfort
That's easy, a Brooks Champion Flyer. It takes a few rides to get used to the width, and you may get stuck behind it a couple times, but I wouldn't trade mine for anything.
I have 11 bikes and 11 saddles (there are a few duplicate models) but my favourites are the vintage leather saddles in my collection.
My newest saddle is an old Brooks I picked up for $5.00 and although it needs a little work (oiling and re-breaking in) I expect it to be as comfy as all the others. It's sitting on my Bianchi road bike right now but could just as easily be used on my mountain bikes.
I also have a few nice Velo saddles that are both padded and sprung and narrow enough to be suitable for off road use... they look like a granny seat but are wickedly comfortable, breathe well, and rock for epic riding.
If you're lucky you'll have a shop where they have a test drive program for saddles as the only way to make a good assessment is to ride on a saddle over some good distances.
