1. The most important thing about buying a new bike is to make sure it fits. The only way you'll know if the bike is right for you is to size up the bike and make sure that the bike's geometry matches your body's geometry. Ask questions and do some research.

2. If possible, try to find a shop that will let you demo the bike on real dirt. Five minutes in a parking lot won't cut it. You wouldn't buy a car without a real world test drive, and a bike should be no different.
3. Don't belive the hype. Just because your favorite rider or best friend rides a certain bike, that doesn't mean that's the best one for you. Have an open mind and be realistic about your needs and ability.

Wink Hi All Back On My Bike Again

    hi all.
name is Mick 42 male and im from the UK.

im looking at getting myself back into a spot of biking (mtb)
did it a few years ago but gave up after my last bike was stolen.

so just got myself a new bike and still awaiting delivery of it plus a few add-ons as well and i should be all set to go.

would love some ideas or info members can give me in were to get started.
im situated in Corby Northamptonshire and im looking for some assistance.
even a club to get me started would be an idea or even some local trails.
even a riding buddy from the local area to show me some routes to get me back into things.

thanx for the tips, i have checked out a couple of clubs but for me they are a little too far away and the club nights they operate on dont match up with the shift work i do so im looking for other options.

    appreciate your help
