    Flared steerer tube base

Hey guys, first bike build here. My frame has an integrated tapered headtube that's 1.5 at the bottom and 1-1/8" at the top. My fork is a fox talas 29 with a straight 1-1/8" steerer. I purchased a cane creek IS41 bottom to make it fit. Problem is I can't get the crown race on the fork. Seems like the bottom of the steerer tube is slightly flared(about 2mm). Is that normal. The crown race will sit about 12mm above the flat spot. Will try to use PVC and hammer the crown race down. Is this normal? 2mm is a big difference.

Very normal. If the crown race could move it would creak.
Don't you hate it when a sentence doesn't end the way you think it octopus?
