The fsr is a sweet ride! Hopefully this rain will stop earlier than expected tomorrow and we can get out there and ride! Welcome to the forum!

Congrats! I'm in the market for a new rig, and the FSR is making a strong impression. Very good choice.

What about the FSR won you over? What else did you consider?

    Congrats again.

Great looking bike man! Congrats! More I look at it the better it looks. Did you get to ride it today? I was able to get out and even though it was muddy it was a blast! Hope you got out too! If not you may have to call out "sick" tomorrow.

I was looking at a trek ex fuel, but the extra travel appealed to me and unlike the way the SJ felt more. I rode the carbon fsr and decided it was way too much money. I messed around on the ghost fs at rei and liked it alright. The SJ just has a bit better decent then a lot of the others. The trails I'll be on are very rough downhills. This bike can do a decent climb though. I'll give more input as I ride it!

Not yet. Just took it out for a quick spin down our dirt rode. So fun. Light, bouncy, still has speed.

    Glad you got out there!

Your right on the other side of the bay from me to the north. I'll shoot you a pm and try to get up there to ride with you or you can come this way and ride out here. Since we're both newbs we can teach each other bad habits and learn to ride really terribly.

That's awesome man! Congrats! I rode one of those that my sister got as a rental (2016 model that had the 27.5+ wheels, real nice!) and proceeded to do some street stuff on it and decided to launch myself down a 25set stair case. Landed halfway down the staircase and it rode the rest of the stairs like butter! It felt like I was landing on a smooth transition!

I CANNOT do that on my bike (2016 Kona Honzo AL/DL [29er, HT]) otherwise I'll probably kill myself, lol!

That is an awesome bike, man! Congrats again!

Thanks. Just took it out on a local trail yesterday that just has a few short single tracks that are pretty technical. It's clear the bike can handle a lot but the rider needs some practice and some new pedals. The stock pedals are so terrible.

I've got Race Face Atlas flat pedals and a pair of 5.10 shoes and have SO MUCH GRIP. If you can find a store that has the Atlas's, check them out. The front spikes are pointed towards you, while the rest are straight perpendicular to the pedal and you can really feel the difference it makes!

Technique is important. You need to be off the seat using 'low heels' like Fabien shows in this vid.

These pedals have stubby pins for trailrunners or other running shoes you already own. They won't cut up your shins like the sharp pins on DH pedals that need 5.10s.
    Light and thin and $40.

I had those exact pedals on my BMX bike I sold 3 months ago to help buy my first MTB! I loved those things because they could handle pedal grinds decently and didn't cost too much to replace when I inevitably would break them from said pedal grinds, lol!

Wanted to say that after my initial excitement about the fsr stump, I'm still so pumped. This bike rules. Handles great, geo feels right, high quality. No complaints yet.

That is great to hear! I know what you mean too. I am new (all over again) to the community and it has been a blast riding on trails.
