1. The most important thing about buying a new bike is to make sure it fits. The only way you'll know if the bike is right for you is to size up the bike and make sure that the bike's geometry matches your body's geometry. Ask questions and do some research.

2. If possible, try to find a shop that will let you demo the bike on real dirt. Five minutes in a parking lot won't cut it. You wouldn't buy a car without a real world test drive, and a bike should be no different.
3. Don't belive the hype. Just because your favorite rider or best friend rides a certain bike, that doesn't mean that's the best one for you. Have an open mind and be realistic about your needs and ability.

    Crankset Question...

I have a '12 Talon that came with the factory Suntour XCT crankset with a threaded BB, I'm looking to replace it and was wondering if anyone would know if the Truvativ Aka Bb30 3.3 Crankset, 170Mm, 9 Speed, Bb30 would be a direct replacement?

My wife bought one at my LBS and the guy there said it'd fit but I cant for the life of me figure it out, the bearing doesn't fit inside the bottom bracket/frame, does this bearing style sit outside the frame? Obviously I've never replaced a BB and am kinda lost so any insight would be great!!

No, you need a GXP crankset for a threaded bottom bracket. Or external bearing Hollowtech.

No, the bb shell is not compatible with BB30, this has been discussed in the Giant sub forum.

You need a bb compatible with the Talon shell, any 2 piece crankset with external bearings or 3 piece with a 73x113 bb will work.
