1. The most important thing about buying a new bike is to make sure it fits. The only way you'll know if the bike is right for you is to size up the bike and make sure that the bike's geometry matches your body's geometry. Ask questions and do some research.

2. If possible, try to find a shop that will let you demo the bike on real dirt. Five minutes in a parking lot won't cut it. You wouldn't buy a car without a real world test drive, and a bike should be no different.
3. Don't belive the hype. Just because your favorite rider or best friend rides a certain bike, that doesn't mean that's the best one for you. Have an open mind and be realistic about your needs and ability.

I would say yes since it's listed under freeride category. The only thing that doesn't look good to me (me!) is rockers.

It depends on what you're looking for. Mountain Cycles are great bikes, lots of fun, tough, and will go pretty much anywhere. They are an older design, but still good. Enduros seem to be pretty good too. They decend nicely, and acend decently too. I haven't heard much about the new Stumpys, except that they're pretty nice rides, but the Enduro is a better bet if you're looking for something aggressive. The Truth is more of an XC race bike. I guess if you want to race XC, you might lean towards a Stumper. (This is not to say that you can't race an Enduro or San Andreas--and quite well at that. The rider makes more difference than the bike)

    Hi Wannaberacer..
The bike frame is very good, supports all adversity, I used one for 7 years and is new. Highly recommend.
