1. The most important thing about buying a new bike is to make sure it fits. The only way you'll know if the bike is right for you is to size up the bike and make sure that the bike's geometry matches your body's geometry. Ask questions and do some research.

2. If possible, try to find a shop that will let you demo the bike on real dirt. Five minutes in a parking lot won't cut it. You wouldn't buy a car without a real world test drive, and a bike should be no different.
3. Don't belive the hype. Just because your favorite rider or best friend rides a certain bike, that doesn't mean that's the best one for you. Have an open mind and be realistic about your needs and ability.

    Bike fit sizing in between go up or down?

    Hi some of the bike fit calculator have me on a 18 frame other on a 19.
    the frame im looking at comes in 15, 17 and 19.
    Diamondback Bicycles - Sortie Black Frameset
    this frames seem to run big or is just me top tube length.

    Just wondering what is the general guide to go up or down?

    ps: I usually type height 70.8" and 33'' inseam no shoes, book to crotch method

    Try them both and pick the one you like best. Any other method is a guess at best.

    It depends. Not all frames marked as a 18 or 19 have the same dimensions. Best thing to do is actually get out and ride a few.
