1. The most important thing about buying a new bike is to make sure it fits. The only way you'll know if the bike is right for you is to size up the bike and make sure that the bike's geometry matches your body's geometry. Ask questions and do some research.

2. If possible, try to find a shop that will let you demo the bike on real dirt. Five minutes in a parking lot won't cut it. You wouldn't buy a car without a real world test drive, and a bike should be no different.
3. Don't belive the hype. Just because your favorite rider or best friend rides a certain bike, that doesn't mean that's the best one for you. Have an open mind and be realistic about your needs and ability.

    BB Help

    I have a 2012 Diamondback Overdrive 29er:
    Diamondback Bicycles - 2012 Overdrive

I have been riding it for a few months now. Last time out it sounded like the BB was starting to squeal. My question is, how do I know what BB to replace it with? Is there a certain type I need to use? I looked up the specs on the bike and all it said for BB was "Sealed Cartridge"

I am a newb at all this so any help would be great!

    Thanks!

    Bottom Bracket Size Database

Most likely you want a square taper bottom bracket.
Remove yours and have a look. You also need to measure it so you can buy on the correct length.

You need special tools to do this job. It may be cheaper to get a LBS to do the job. Sealed bottom brackets usually last very well. It may well be something else making the noise.
Duct tape iz like teh Force. It has a Lite side and a Dark side and it holdz the Universe together.

    BB Help

Thanks man. I am pretty sure it's the bb. It has been creaking and has now started squeaking. I just ordered a shimano un55 69x113 square taper. Getting the tools to do it, I would rather do it myself and learn instead of leaving the bike at the lbs for 10+ days and saving a buck or two.
