1. The most important thing about buying a new bike is to make sure it fits. The only way you'll know if the bike is right for you is to size up the bike and make sure that the bike's geometry matches your body's geometry. Ask questions and do some research.

2. If possible, try to find a shop that will let you demo the bike on real dirt. Five minutes in a parking lot won't cut it. You wouldn't buy a car without a real world test drive, and a bike should be no different.
3. Don't belive the hype. Just because your favorite rider or best friend rides a certain bike, that doesn't mean that's the best one for you. Have an open mind and be realistic about your needs and ability.

    2012 Carve Comp 29 CL bike..Need Help!!

Ive been looking at a 2012 Carve Comp 29 on Craigslist and need some advice. Seller is asking 1k but that's not happening. I looked up on BBB and it values at $747. Ive seen the bike in person and it is basically brand new. He said he rode twice on the road and I see no reason to not believe him. Whats a fair offer on this bike? Thanks!

I don't go for the 71 degree head tube angle on this bike. But if you've ridden it at your lbs in and out of ditches and like the handling take 800 cash and get it out in your hand as your final offer. Be friendly but honest and ready to walk.
