    '12 Spec Hardrock or '13 Trek 820?

I'm thinking about one of these two bikes. My LBS has both the Trek and the Hardrock for $370. Given the choice of one of those two bikes for the same price which would you choose and why?

I'd buy the Specialized because the trek 820 is a steel frame which tends to be way heavier and not worth it to upgrade in the long run. I believe they are spec'd about the same, so the difference only in the frame. All in all, Specialized over Trek in this comparison.

ok, i took a look at the specialized specs.

I would get the costco bike. $379
    why it's better:
    3x8 vs 3x7
disc breaks! this a big deal. if u ever want to upgrade, doing so on non disc bike is unfeasible
    higher end shifters and derailleurs

    why it's worse:
you'll have to assemble and tune yourself. youtube and time and some basic tools is what you'll need.

    Northrock XC6 bike 3x8, 18" and 19.5" only $379 at costco
