What are you drinking right now?

Just picked this up at Ralph's..not saying I'm a beer snob, but was drinking Red Hook at my local watering holes a year before it went public..same with Red Nectar..ahh..good old days. Personally, now, I think the "ale" market is over-saturated with IPA's everywhere..with Sierra Nevada IPA being the grandfather of IPA's.

Last few years I got tired of all these IPA's and I be honest..all IPA's taste the same now..that same underlying hoppy finish we love..or I got sick of..but developed this thirst for true lagers and pilsners..

This #9 beer/ale advertised as being "not quite Pale Ale"..which hooked me into buying it tonight.

The first whiff had no noticeable smell or odor..the first sip was hoppy and very IPA-esque, but then finished dry with the typical hoppy-ness of an IPA..fantastic. I would say a cross between a IPA and lager finish. I highly recommend this #9 beer/ale if you want the taste of an IPA but with a lager finish..I could drink this all night.

Angry Orchard traditional dry. Perfect for a hot day like today. I personally can't drink this unless it's over 75 outside. Every sip just makes your mouth water wanting more.

I've got some Hofbräuhaus Original nearby, but I'm saving it for later...

Just had a Bourbon Barrel Kalamazoo Stout from Bells, and a Shorts Publican Porter, but tonight it's Fore Smoked Stout from Dark Horse Brewing. Subtle and smooth, and a great way to finish the day.

Just had a New Belgium Summer Helles. Not really in my lane but not a bad Lager. Odd to be in D.C. and have a Ft Collins beer though.

    Lagunitas Rock's !!!!

A Co worker told me about this one.
And today when I was out at Safeway I saw it so thought I would give it a shot.
Good stuff but then I have never had anything from Lagunitas that I didn't like.
    "Night Time Ale"
BTW packs a punch I must say @ only 8.2 Alc. by Vol.

Hair of the Dog - Pannepooch Reserva 2013.

I would say it's a 3.8/5 right now.. great combination of leather, fig, plum, maybe a little prune... but it's also dead still, so the body is kind of slick. I have 3 more, will have to see how they age. I will probably pace them 2 years apart.

Firestone Walker Opal, a saison, it's pretty dang good for an after ride beer. Sour for sure.

This is the worse description of magic hat #9 that I have ever heard. It is nothing like an IPA at all.
It is an apricot flavored ale definitely not hoppy at all with no bite whatsoever and sits lighter than a lot of craft beers especially IPA's.
I appreciate your ability to sing the beer critic lingo but that was far off for #9

I do the same when back 'home'. Belles has a few good one's but I'll look that one up on the next trip.

Trying Coronado Brewing's Sock-knocker IPA. I've had it in my fridge for awhile - not bad.

If you can find this where you live get some!!!!!! Space Dust from Elysian Brewery in Seattle Washington releases this late august till its gone. 22's and on tap. I found it at my local safeway next to work. They look at me funny when I come back with 4 or 5 bottles at lunch????? This IPA is sooooo good. Not bitter like so many others, nice citrus notes. From the bottle "The hopping is pure starglow energy, with Chinook to bitter and late and dry additions or Citra and Amarillo"
