    OBX mix

    OBX Weeping Radish Changeover beer.
It's a mix of styles when they change over the barrels.
Fruity, crisp, amber beer (but very good) from farm/brewery in NC as soon as you leave the Outer Banks northern islands.
A Diners, Drive-ins and Dives featured place.
I recommend, good German food, good German bier.

Green Flash Brewing Co.’s Double Stout Black Ale. Wish to sh¡t they bottled these puppies in 22ounce bottles, these tiny 12ouncers are a real bother.

I am drinking something from Shipyard Brewing tonight. They used to sponsor a local fishing program here in NH/Maine but after the host was video taped threatening a cyclist they dropped their support of the show.

Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout. I really wish they’d sell them in 22 ounce bottles as opposed to the tiny 12 ounce ones.

Boneyard diablo rojo. Having dinner at a local restaurant and their taps are full odd crap beer but there was one gem in the lineup. There is no excuse for not having a full lineup of quality beers in Portland. Well, unless the owners are v greedy. Which I suspect is the case here.

You try the Old No. 38 from North Coast? A really nice, lighter (less ABV) alternative to Old Raspy. Still remember that bottle of BA Old Raspy you brought to Francis' house at that BBQ - damn good stuff!

Yep, I’ve had that one too. My dad lives up in Mendocino, so every time I go up to visit he seems to have the beer situation taken care of, always something special to share. Wish I’d bought a metric crapload of those barrel-aged Old Rasputins back when I bought that one bottle… big mistake.

Have you tried the Barron’s Extra Strong Ale yet? Can only get it in Singapore, and you mentioned you are living in Singapore. When I was there back in August 2012 a can of it cost around $8 or $9 at the local 7-Eleven store right around the corner from the Ritz Carlton.

Was gonna say you need to get hold of the Barrel Aged Old Rasputin, but sounds like you have had it. I made the detour through Ft Bragg on my drive back to BC at Xmas just to get some (both beers and Mendocino trails, which are also sweet BTW).

I have a couple pics for tonite. First is my available selection, a newly released batch of Stone barrel aged brews:

Second is what I picked up. Beer of choice for the night is the Mother Earth Kismet IPA, excellent. The original Stone/Green Flash Hwy 78 Scotch Ale is one of my favorite beers ever, but never to be produced again (until they made this outrageous barrel aged version!)

I got a growler fill of Triton Brewing's Pink Ribbon Saison a couple days ago. Tasty pale brew made with peppercorns that's great for warm, humid, evenings on the patio. They've got an IPA they'll be tapping this Thursday that's made with green peppers, jalapenos, and chipotle peppers. That's a beer I want to taste.

I'm on this one right now. Its good, but the barrel aging changed the taste further from that of the original beer that I thought it would. I really liked the original. This one seems too smoky. We'll see how I like it by the bottom of the bottle. I have a second one I'll age, so will see how that turns out in a year or so.

    Coke and Rum... my usual.

On hot days I like milk and baileys on ice. Or frozen fruit blended drink with some vodka...
Smirnoff Ice are also a favorite.

Not a huge beer drinker myself, but I don't mind some of the dark beers. (I know I am tainting the beer forum... deal with it.)

New Belgium 1554. Not bad, but not what I would consider a daily drinker. A little too chocolatey for me.

What are you drinking right now?

Thanks to the stupid government forcing me (and 650,000 other Feds) to take one day of leave without pay for the next 11 weeks, I'm making Thur Nite the new Fri Nite:

From this afternoon...Special release for Comic-Con.

Stone + Greg Curtis of Fark.com + Wil Wheaton of Star Trek. Supposedly there are a couple other versions of the bottle out there with comic characters on them. I've seen one but this bottle did not have them. Not that I am complaining

You know your beer is fresh when... (picked it up 3 days ago on 7/18!)

Stopped by Ballast Point this weekend to try some new stuff. Had a pint of the seasonal Fathom IPL (india pale lager). Very refreshing and ended up picking up a couple bottles to take home.

    Scrounging in the 'fridge

Land Shark for me tonight - left over from last weekend at the beach in Port Aransas, TX where the main pastime is drinking. A mild lager with not much going for it.

If you like Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy then you should try Dundee Summer Shandy out of NY! It has more of a natural citrus flavor and is also smoother.
