What are you drinking right now?

San Diego is known worldwide for its craft beers. I've enjoyed too many of them.
The area is now getting micro distilleries for all types of hard liquor. Malahat has the top rated spiced rum in the country. There are a few whiskey micros as well. We went to three yesterday and San Diego Distillery was the standout by far. We sampled six and I couldn't leave without picking up two bottles. They're small .375L bottles but ooohhh they were worth the money. When the bottle of Peated was opened and the sample was poured, the smell immediately brought me to an Ireland trip from years before.
The single malt is the definition of smooth.
If you can make to this distillery in San Diego, go!

safe to say this will do it for me for the day. neighbor helped polish this one off. this is from a fairly popular local brewer that goes by the acronym: SARA. another first for me - "Four Legs Good". not sure about the legs part but agree with the: it's good part.

after months straight of practically living in an arc, can't believe how warm & bright it's gotten the last couple of days. suddenly this seemed more appropriate than the stouts i've been pounding.

I've never been limited on photo posting. My Costco almost has no craft beer anymore. I don't know why. I used to swing by at lunch, get a Polish dog and then go in and get a pint of beer. Not anymore. I remember that beer, it was a really good one. At that price, I'd buy a case.

that's because you use photobucket. & that's how i figured out it apparently works here. at least the image displays here [shrug]. not to mention, it took me 20 minutes worth of password guesses to log into my old bucket account. & up to figuring out that's what works, i've had allllll kinds of problems posting photos here. can't count the times i've given up & closed posts without submitting.

as for Costco, they can be hit or miss. advice-wise, when you catch the buyer(s) on the floor @ your local, talk to them & let them know your interests, both in general (more craft) & specific (exact titles/brewers).

the other image i tried to post with the Boulevard was the 3 pks of Ballast Point V@S. at less than $7 they are still struggling to move those. i've heard enough about the variants to know why the struggle is real. lol. i did pick up 1 pack for scientific purposes tho'. i figure the regular V@S is pretty solid. $7 makes it like the Coconut & Peppermint bottles were free.

I tried the peppermint version. If I weren't so anal about wasting things, I'd have poured it down the drain.

yeah. i don't have a set of the Tuesdays to match you with. i do dabble with the Bruery's goods tho'. being in NorCal i'm at a bit of a disadvantage for most of their local only stuff.

but i do have a set of their Poterie handy. several Costco locations here had those $21.

I did just get back from visiting with a friend and having a few beers. Interestingly enough the conversation did get around to talking about bikes an my interest about getting a new mountain bike.

    We had a bottle of
What are you drinking right now?-cq5dam.web.1280.1280.jpg

    followed by a bottle of
What are you drinking right now?-cq5dam.web.1280.1280.jpg

No decision was made as to what bike I should by but the beer was very nice. I think i liked the first one more than the second, but the raspberry was very nice and still has a remnant taste left as I start thinking about slumber.

What I find so pleasing is the number of posts on here that have so many interesting small craft brewing beers.

Growing up in Canada, you either drank Molson Canadian or Labatts Blue. And American beer was like making love in a canoe.

But it seems that times have changed. There are more really good craft beers out there than shelving space to stock it. The mood and taste of drinkers have grown up so there is variety and that promotes selection that was otherwise not available 20 years ago.

    Bravo.

it's very good, imho. on par with Founder's Imperial Stout. that said, do you like heavier roasts typical of thick imperial stouts? if no, you might not care for this one.

MCS: They were all pretty good. I've found a spot that gets a few bottles in from The Bruery and the Trade Winds flew off the shelf into my hands. The 2XSmash was probably my favorite out of the bunch.

TeamRWB: It was definetely a gamble, but the Cinnamon Raison Commodore Perry was pretty darn tasty. You only got the Cinnamon Raison at the very end/finish. I'm going to try the regular CP stout next.
