Stouts are becoming more popular, IPAs less popular.

I don’t know about that, my drinking palate changes with the seasons, and I like choices, but a good double IPA makes me happy!

Stouts and Porters(to an extent) have always been my go to brews since I've really learned to appreciate good beer in the last 4 or 5 years. The flavoring and texture just appeal to me over all the others. I still love a good Red or Amber. Regular Lagers, Ales, and such no so much. IPAs still are the odd man out. Although I have come to like them more than I did in years prior.

Sadly, I've never found a stout that I like. Something about them just fills my gut like I dumped 10 loaves of bread in a gallon jar and I just don't really like the flavor much. Usually, I can suffer through one and then it's time to stop. I suppose at almost 55 I'm probably never going to find a taste for them either. Maybe, it's because I love my espresso & Scotch strong but I really like my beer to be drinkable and not a battle.... kind of like reading on vacation.

Truly though, I envy you guys for liking them.

I really like my Stouts and porters this time of the year, here in Michigan when it cold out, that being said; I have a preference for a well balanced IPA. The only beer that I’ll pass on is a wheat based beer; I just don’t like the taste of wheat in beer…20 years ago I really enjoyed wheat beer, that’s how my palate has changed with age.

Not good. It's like bitter chocolate vanilla coffee with an artificial peppermint taste. And, when I say chocolate, vanilla and coffee, it's not in a good way. I couldn't finish it.

Trust me they are at the bottom of the pecking order. There have been a few I can drink, but never asked for a second of the same. But hey I'm a Stout guy and some people can't drink those either.

It's ok, it's been a long time since I made a bad choice in a beer. I should have known better. I mean, a Peppermint Porter? Who does that? Their Mocha Marlin is very good though. I have a Brother Thelonious Belgium Abby ale waiting in the fridge for the Super Bowl tomorrow. That will be good!

I wish I had something unique for the game but it won't be on here until 0030 or so, and I don't really care for either team enough to lose sleep over lol.

Ha Ha yeah I hear ya. 99% of the time if I do get one it's because it was free or the other choices just didn't appeal.

I feel sorry for you guys, so many good IPA's out there, as with Stouts and Porters, you're not getting a balanced diet, without IPA's, your missing one of the food groups.

For the record, I started with a IPA today, now I'm drinking a Milkshake Stout.

Prostate… We need to verify which end your drinker from.

Anyone tried this yet? It's the perfect compromise between IPA and Stout.

How bitter is it? And, is it heavy on the coffee?

Yeah, there's a lot of these beers coming out. Trying to mix different styles together. I try to stay away from them. My guess would be, because it's Stone, that it's pretty bitter and heavy on the coffee. Both of which, I don't like.

Damn you guys and all these Stouts! I'm gonna have to make a run to the craft shop. Little pricey for me here in Germany, but so worth it once on awhile.
