edit: also, as many of us know, The Abyss is the World's Best stout/porter!

Why can't I find the runners up to any of the categories!?!?
I'd like to see what they were up against.

Me too. Their "Complete Results" are not so complete.
I also find it rather suspicious that the vast majority of the awards were split up by Deschutes, Rogue, Unibrou and Sam Adams. This contest requires brewers to enter thier own beers. Apparently those four breweries were the primary entrants. I thnk this is a little flawed and the contest does not really deserve the title Worlds Best Beer.

The World's Best competition is a joke, at least it hasn't really gained the prestige that the World Beer Cup or GABF has.

Isn't claiming "World's Best" kind of pretentious? I mean sure, the marketing department can put it on a label and trick naive consumers buying the beer, but I'd feel cheesy making the claim.

I've had Red Chair, it's ok, but I've definitely had better pale ales and better beers in general.

My sentiments exactly. Which brewers received entrance forms?

I also call BS, i think "worlds best" is a bit of a bold and IMO ridiculous statement, especially for something as subjective as beer.

Although I like Red Chair I'm pretty sure it would go over like a turd in a punch bowl in most if not all of Europe. Hard to give it a "worlds best"

It's already been said, but I'll say it again. That competition is a joke. I'd like to know if the WBA is sponsored somehow by the big brands.

I'll try to find out from a brewmaster at Deschutes and let you guys know if he says anything.
