    Pint Glass Question

I've been drinking beer for a long time. I've sampled beer out of many kinds of vessels.

At a local mtb trails advocacy fund raiser, they handed out a pint glass that has some sort of black coating on the bottom of the glass. Is there any beer-centric reason for this?

Is it a grip? Can you post a picture?

I don't know if I've ever seen anything like you're describing!

Was the coating on the inside of the glass?

I have seen a new trend where people dip the base and part of the stem of a wine glass in chalkboard paint so people can label their glasses at Parties, would be kinda a cool thing to do to some of my pint glasses that have no logos.

    Pint Glass Question

Sorry guys. Photo coming tonight. It's not a grip. It's a coating on the bottom (outside) of the pint glass.

Not chalk paint. Not sure if there is a reason. My wife will tell you that have dozens took my pint glasses. I've never seen one like this.

    Auto correct.

Should have read: my wife will tell you that I have dozens too many pint glass.

^^ this makes perfect sense to me, allow me to translate:

I have a metric sh!t tonne of pint glasses. Cabinets full. You know those people that collect rocks from places they've been to remind them of their visit? That's me with pint glasses. It drives my wife nuts.

Looks like it's simply an aesthetics thing, can't say I've seen one like that before.

    Pint Glass Question

Agree. I don't understand why they would go through an extra step (more cost). I was hoping that someone had a beer snob reason:

    More accurate color assessment
Keeps beer at a more consistent temperature after the pour
    Etc

White would be a better background for general color assessment, and even though black absorbs heat, I don't think on this scale it would be very effective.

It's to block the UV light from skunking the beer as you tip it up to drink from it. Geez, don't you people know anything?? :P

In addition to the UV blocking, it has thermodynamic properties to keep your beer at a proper drinking temperature for a longer period of time. AND, it's also magnetic, to ensure the molecules are properly aligned as they hit your taste buds, for optimized flavor.
