I'm not usually into fruity beers but I tried this and really liked it. My favorite beer at the moment is Founders All Day IPA.

Why the need for grapefruit, pineapple, etc.? A great IPA is a great IPA.

    Color me jaded.

Grapefruit on tap is good. The money ballast point charges for their packaged goods is laughable.

Just say no. Fruited beers? Just like girly cocktails. Or just go get an appletini. Ewww.

Point taken but I wouldn't really call their sculpins fruit beers per say. The grapefruit really jives well the citrus of the hops imo. I'm no ballast point fan boy...their price to quality ratio is for the true hipster aficionado.

Like but the grapefruit is better. Another tasty one is the green flash and lately stone tangerine IPAs.

You should try it before you knock it. Although the fruit essence is there, I would not say it's really fruity or sweet. For the grapefruit (BP Sculpin) and tangerine (GF Soul Style) beers, it's actually more peel flavor than anything else.

Tried the grapefruit sculpin, spit it out right on the floor of a tasting. Just say no. With the exception of a lambic or something, not a fruit guy. Pineapple? Great with rum, bourbon peach smash, sure. If you need fruit in your beer i would suggest, apple tinis, bud mango ritas, spiked flavored seltzer and turn in your man card. Really. Or try a porter, mild, hefe, pilsner, stout, octoberfest. No fruit.

fruit beers are getting popular now. a couple of months ago grapefruit IPAs were all the rage and breweries couldn't brew them fast enough. although, I think they've died down a little bit.

Ive have the grapefruit version before they sold out to the big wigs and it was good, and I don't usually care for fruit beers.

on another semi-related note. stop buying ballast point. they sold their brewery and their crap was overpriced to begin with. many other breweries out there pumping out excellent beer and aren't owned by big companies.

if you want a fruity ipa, try the tropical torpedo.
