An update on Brooklyn's "The Companion" series, which had been only available on draft up until now.
Sounds very interesting.Brewmaster, Garrett Oliver, revealed on the Beer Sessions podcast that the wheatwine will be exclusively available in bottles as part of a gift set with his book, The Oxford Companion to Beer. Oliver didnít specify when the set will be available though one can probably expect it to be on shelves by the holidays.
The wheatwine is fermented with an English-style ale yeast and made with floor malted wheat & floor malted barley from Weyermann. All floor malt from Weyermann is made in the Czech Republic according to Oliverís associate editor on the book, Horst Dornbusch. Oliver noted that floor malted wheat hadnít been available in the U.S. for over 100 years with all of the current supply sitting at The Brooklyn Brewery.
As with Brooklynís other bottled specialty offerings, this beer is re-fermented in the bottle with champagne yeast.
