    Team Spitfire - Just arrived

Sorry for the very lousy cameraphone pics, I do not own a digital camera. These pics don't do justice at all. Unfortunately I'm waiting on the shock so I'll post some highlights of what I've got now:

I am confused about the QR hubs working on the 20mm fork... but they probably came with adapters

The wheelset is from Loaded Precision. Not much info out about them it seems, but I sucked it up and decided to try em out. I'm pretty certain the hubs just come with QR adapters that pop out.

And yes I'll have to steal somebody's digital camera once its completed and get some decent pics.

Thanks for the quick answer. I tried to find a site for Loaded and all I came up with is a Facebook page. There stuff looks nice. I hope you give us a ride report on the bike but especially the wheelset.

    Update

Ordered the wrong headset so won't have it built up till next week. But I got my hands on a proper camera so I took some higher rez shots of the frame and wheelset.

Have you tried taking out the converter from qr to 20mm? It just doesn't look like that front hub can be converted... Hope they do thought because that looks like it will be a sexy build. Do you have the weight/poe on that wheelset? Haven't heard much of them.

They are definitely convertable. I just haven't taken them apart yet.

Here's some info on the wheels. They keep saying their website is under contruction but they don't appear to be making any progress. So i wouldn't hold your breath for one.

    Finally complete

Some higher res pics of the final build. I'm coming off a hardtail I've had for 8.5 years now so this is quite a change. Very happy how it turned out. Can't wait to ride it for real. I've just ridden around on the streets and so far it feels . Big thanks to the guys at Banshee and Hammerhead!

Looks good, man. You should get some Loaded handlebars in blue and a sliver Thomson stem. Looking forward to a ride report.

    Man, that looks really sweet

On the tyre combo, quite contrasting front and rear; all business in the front and then SB8 in rear Does the SB8 hook up well in Texas? I know you guys don't ride wet trails, but just thought I'd throw the warning up that it's not noted to be very nice in wet - friend was not impressed with his in the wet. I'd have gone all Maxxis and used a Crossmark in the rear, hook s up well, rolls as fast if not faster than the SB8 and is decent enough in the wet.

Congrats on a great looking build. I am really interested in hearing how that wheelset not only rolls but also it's durability. I also cannot wait to hear how the bike rides.

I am also interested to see what the final build weight is on it. I am seriously thinking about going with the Spitfire as my first FS bike and am really looking at what everyone is doing with there's I am thinking of building it up more as a trail bike as opposed to a light AM bike.

the blue handlebar just didn't look right. i may go for a silver one in the future. think that would fit better.

yea i was a bit skeptical of the SB8 as well. i've never ridden a tire like that before but the guys at HH said they work really well around here. It's not usually wet here. We'll see, I'll try it it out I guess.

Final weight was around 30.3 lbs. When seated, it pedals as well as my hardtail. No hint of any bob. When standing up and mashing there is slight compression, but no real bob. Seems to pedal exceptionally well and I'm used to riding a hardtail. I'm very impressed with the smooth ramp up actually. I was dropping a couple small ledges and staircases and there is zero harsh bottom out. Feels very controlled. I haven't dialed in the small bump compliance yet I don't think, as right now the monarch didn't feel quite as plush as the Float fork on the front. We'll see if i can play around with that.
