Spitfire & Rune Front derailleur compatability

I'm building up a V2 spitfire, and I want to make sure I get the right front derailleur. I remember reading somewhere that Keith recommends SRAM over shimano, but has anyone had luck with SLX or XT? I have a 2x9 shimano setup, so not only do I have to deal with the derailleur clearing the frame, but also a 10 and 9 speed compatibility. Is anyone else in this situation. Having spent all my money on the frame, I'd like to not have to pop for XTR or XO.

I got a Shimano SLX M675 E2-type 10 speed front derailleur for my Shimano XTR/XT 2x9 set-up on my Spitfire V2 and it works perfectly. I run 34 / 22 rings up front.

You can use the 2-Speed Front-Derailleurs (2x10) for 2x9 without any Trouble, they´re compatible.
I have a SRAM X0 2-Speed Front-Derailleur (2x10) which works great for my 2x9 XT-Drivetrain. I know about Riders with Shimano XT Front-Derailleur and the only Thing they do is mounting it as high as possible to have maximum Clearance.

There were some Clearance-Issues with SLX. I would go with XT or SRAM X9/X0 ...

I'm on the same config on the rune, and fitted as low as possible and no issues at all

Anyone running a FD-M785-E2 with a 3x XT M770 shifter? Do you get a lot of chain rub with a fatter 9 speed chain?
