New question here. spitfire front derailleur cable??

    hi

my front derailleur outer cable keeps "blowing up" and of course i keep loosing use of the front derailleur... seems like its under an abnormal amount of pressure when shifting. I've tried a few different derailleurs, both low and hi, and shifters but still no joy.

my frame is a proto but judging from the pics of production frames its the same routing... any help?

    thanks, peter.

p.s. im using shimano 9 speed shifters/derailleurs with plain old shimano outer housings and it happens with both plastic and metal housing ends.

i would guess this is a routing issue rather than a frame issue...

You need a lot of slack to prevent that when your bars get twisted in a crash. You need to allow enough slack so you can rotate your bars 180 deg without binding that cable. This will leave a little loop down by the bottom bracket (which I wasn't very keen on when I first did it but I've had no problems with snagging it).

    Have FUN!
