    Rune Owners - chainring size/Blackspire

Can't use a 22 tooth granny gear or Truvativ HammerSchmidt Cranks, also I have not been able to put a Blackspire Stinger on my bike without modifying the frame or the device.

The above was in one of the reviews.

I was planning to use a 22 ring and the Blackspire for a frame I have on order.

    Is this true?

If you are going to use a granny ring I wouldnt go any lower than a 24t, otherwise you are going to get noticeable pedal feedback. As far as the blackspire i dont know, when i was riding 2X9 I ran 24-36 upfront in conjuntion with A E13 DRS. I did have to use a thinner granny ring as the blackspire ring was too thick. I would consider going 1x9 or 1x10, I just made this change and I'm loving it! Especially with the Straitline Silent Guide.

If your Rune has tabs around the ISCG mount holes like my Spitty did then you can just grind them down to flush with the ISCG mount plate (and grind the bolt heads down some too) and the Stinger will then work with a 22 tooth ring; works great on mine and I almost threw my Stinger out!

    Have FUN!

I built up my Rune with a Stylo 2.2 crankset (24/36/bash) and ISCG05 Stinger with no modifications. been running it since July and so far, so good!

    Thanks

    Thanks for the replies.

I have been running 1*9 for some time on a yeti asx....

perhaps its age, lack of skill, lack of fitness or all of the above but I've been having trouble on some (most) climbs...was looking forward to the granny for the grinders....

There are so many choices out there it makes it hard to decide where to start....maybe I'll just run a 26 tooth single ring and be a bit different

Time to keep researching what combo's are out there...
