    Ghetto 1x11 on a v2 rune

Who's running this setup or something similar to this:

Any thrash tests with a medium cage shimano rear derailleur? Worried about chain growth and suddenly trying to accomodate a 42T cog wreaking havoc on a clutch derailleur. I was going to stick to a 9x2 drivetrain but I can't find a direct mount front derailleur that will play nicely with my 2-ring specific SLX cranks.

you do realize that you have remove a cog from the cassette to have the space to run the oneup 42 tooth ring? so, its still a 1x10 drivetrain

i've read reports of riders getting away with short cage drls with a oneup ring setup, though i wouldn't chance it. suggests you should be fine with a med cage even on a bike with decent chaingrowth like the rune
