    2014 Banshee Prime

Are there going to be any changes to the 2014 prime?

Where's the cheapest place to buy a Banshee Prime (I'm in California, so I wouldn't want to buy it from a CA based webstore-taxes).

I've been looking at new and used Primes.
I have Legend as a DH bike and that frame is BURLY.
I'd expect similar durability and longevity from a Prime.
I'd have no problem buying a used Prime frame or complete bike based on my experiences with the Legend.
There's a used XL on Pinkbike:

    CX?
    No way.
That's like working and not getting paid.
Maintaining borderline cardiac arrest while panting like a pervert is not the way I like to start my weekend mornings.
Can't have any feelings of guilt encroaching on my beer consumption and affinity for lift assisted runs at the bike park.

I got to ride a Lg Prime. It felt small. Beautiful frame. Stout. Looks like you could hand it down to your grandkids. I'd need an XL. I wouldn't build it light, I'd just gear it for climbing and run durable parts.

    I don't have a "stable" of bikes, so I need a do-it-all'er. I ride up-hill and down.

Right now I'm a much better climber than dh-er so I'm hoping that a Prime or Covert-29 will allow me to do both well.

Wish there was somewhere within a 250 miles I could demo both!

I'm also in need of an XL.

The only real changes for 2014 to the Prime are different colors, (Red, Raw, or Ano Black) and the addition of the Stealth Post routing hole, and the water bottle bosses on the down tube. There are some great deals out there on 2013 Primes if those changes are not that significant to you.

How set are you on the 2014. Jenson has some XL in stock, so even with taxes, it's still a decent deal no?

    2014 Banshee Prime

Glad I got a yellow '13 before the color change.

Anyone have a picture of the new red color?

Have you called and checked stock? I know they didn't have much when I stopped by looking at a TransAM a few years ago even though they listed online.

Must be more changes than that.
Not enough room for a water bottle on my large Prime even if there was bosses.

    Ahhh just saw the picture.
Can't see the point of bosses all the way down under the DT near the BB. Bottle covered in filth and impossible to get to while riding, no thanks.

Camelback? Yeah I agree though. Those are pointless.

I ended up buying a new 2013 prime xl in raw w/ a CC DBair CS from RBIKES.com for $1570 w/shipping.

I'll put an X-fusion trace on it, cc 40 hs, and the other parts come from my current ride; hope/flow ex wheels, reverb, 760mm bars, ardent 2.4 Exo tires, 1x9 gearing.

I'm guessing she'll weigh 31 lbs, which I may be able to trim off a half pound come summer, but that'll mean 2.25 tires. . .

Pity for ending the yellow on the prime, would have been my undisputed first choice in the spring.

On the red frame, some posts above, it looks that the DT is hydro/air formed and no gussets. Is this also a change to the 2014 model?

I know that the hydroformed dt was planned for the 2014s. It will save little weight...

I recently asked a retailer about when the 2014 Prime would be out and I was told that Banshee may not be making them anymore. Supposedly the Phantom is going to take it's place. Does anybody know any more about the end of the Prime?

I'd find a new retailer if I were you I doubt the Prime is going anywhere anytime soon, unless for a longer travel version...

I hope you're right because I'd like to pick one up later in the year, but dude I spoke with said Banshee didn't have very many orders for Primes last year which is why the '14 frames haven't come out yet. He said they may put a few out later in the year but their hope was to phase out the Primes and only make Phantoms. I'm coming from a Niner WFO and was looking forward to something a little more slack but still super burly because I'm a big guy. Maybe I'll try asking another dealer because I'd really like one in the near future. The stealth black really caught my eye.

My dealer says there is one medium black frame available. All others are showing 120 days out estimate. So who knows...

Well, i personally think that it could be true that the prime gets discontinued. In germany the primes (2013) sell for 799 (~1100 $) with shock ... and there are minor changes to the 2014 that would justify nearly a 50% discount.

I still like riding my prime and will ride it for at least 1 or 2 more years, but tbh when i would buy a bike today i really dont know if i would buy it again or getting something like the speci enduro.
